Activate your license
Mastery HQ activates with a license code: paste it into the activation screen the first time the app runs, and you’re in. Your license status — type, account, expiry — lives in Settings → License afterward.
- Launch the app; the activation screen appears when no license is active.
- Paste your code and confirm. The workspace chooser opens on success.
- Verify anytime in Settings → License: Status (Active ✓), Type (Temporary / Permanent), Account, Expires.

How many computers?
Section titled “How many computers?”One license runs on up to 2 computers at the same time — activate it on your desktop and your laptop and both stay licensed. A 3rd computer is turned away with “already active on 2 computers”: deactivate the license on a machine you no longer use to free a slot, or buy another license to add the computer. (Owner / master installs aren’t counted toward the limit.)
Moving machines or accounts
Section titled “Moving machines or accounts”Settings → License → Deactivate / use a different account releases this install — and frees one of your 2 computer slots — so you can activate elsewhere with the same code, or enter a different account’s code here. The startup screen also offers Use a different account. If you’ve already lost access to an old machine and can’t deactivate it, contact support to reset your slots.
Streaming note
Section titled “Streaming note”While Streaming Mode is on, your account name is masked in the License tab and license codes are hidden — safe to open on stream.
Frequently asked questions
How many computers can I use one license on?
Up to 2 at once. A 3rd activation is refused with 'already active on 2 computers'. Deactivate the license on a computer you no longer use (Settings → License → Deactivate) to free a slot, or buy another license to add the computer. Replaced a machine and can't deactivate it? Contact support and we'll reset your slots.
How do I move Mastery HQ to a new computer?
In Settings → License click 'Deactivate / use a different account' on the old machine (this frees one of your 2 slots), then enter the same code on the new machine's activation screen.
What happens if I refund my purchase?
A refund (or a chargeback) revokes the license. Mastery HQ checks for this on launch, when you refocus the window, and periodically — a revoked license is locked out and the code is removed from the machine, so it stays locked even offline. If you're offline the app keeps working on its last-known-good state and re-checks the moment it's back online.
Does my Mastery Lite subscription code work in Mastery HQ?
No — they're separate products with separate licenses. A code now names the product it unlocks, so a Mastery Lite key entered here is refused with a message saying exactly that, rather than a vague failure. Every code issued before this existed is a Mastery HQ license and keeps working unchanged.
