The setup wizard

The setup wizard runs on first launch (and anytime from Settings → Setup) to make features self-provision: it detects which agent CLIs are installed on your PC and offers to store the optional keys that unlock extras — an OpenRouter key for HTTP model agents, an xAI key for Grok voice, and a Spotify client ID for account-linked music.

Field Unlocks
OpenRouter API key (sk-or-…) OpenRouter agent panes + more models in Model Council and Benchmark
xAI API key (xai-…) Grok voice (speech) and Grok as a Hermes brain
Spotify client ID Account-linked Spotify in the Music pane (details)

Key fields are password-masked as you type. Keys are written to Mastery HQ’s local .env and settings files on your machine — see Where your data lives.

  1. Open Settings (gear in the top bar) → Setup, or let the wizard appear on first launch.
  2. Review the detected agents list — anything found is ready to use immediately.
  3. Paste any keys you have. Skip the rest.
  4. Finish. Open a fresh agent window afterward so it picks up new keys.

If it didn’t work: keys are also manageable directly — see API keys and the .env file.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to fill in the setup wizard?

No. Every field is optional — skip it and Mastery HQ works with whatever agent CLIs you already have installed. Keys only unlock extras: OpenRouter adds HTTP model agents, xAI adds Grok voice, and the Spotify client ID enables account-linked music.
